Tel Aviv's iconic Nordoy Hotel, a century-old landmark, has emerged from a 10-million-shekel ($2.7 million) transformation, sparking excitement and debate among locals and travelers alike. But is it just a facelift or a preservation triumph?
This historic gem, now under the Fattal Colors boutique collection, has been meticulously restored to its former glory. Originally opened in 1925, the hotel boasts a rich history. Designed by Yehuda Megidovitch, a pioneer of Tel Aviv's architectural style, the building is a fusion of European, Jewish, and Middle Eastern influences. Its silver dome is an iconic feature on the city's skyline, gracing vintage postcards and architecture exhibitions.
The renovation reveals a stylish new look. The interior redesign embraces warm minimalism with classic accents. Midcentury eclectic design influences the furnishings, creating a unique blend of retro and modern aesthetics. Each of the 22 rooms and suites is a bespoke creation, maintaining original dimensions and offering balconies with urban vistas. The rooms start at 1,390 shekels ($375) per night, including breakfast.

This addition is a game-changer, offering guests a unique perspective on Tel Aviv's vibrant landscape. The hotel also features a spa, a tranquil interior patio, and a sophisticated lounge.
Fattal Hotels' co-CEOs, Asaf and Nadav Fattal, see the Nordoy acquisition as a strategic move. They aim to solidify their presence in Israel's hospitality scene, investing 1.6 billion shekels ($435 million) in new hotels over the past year. The Nordoy, with its unique history and design, is expected to appeal to a diverse clientele seeking a cultural and historical Tel Aviv experience.
However, the renovation has not been without controversy. Some locals argue that the hotel's new look may have compromised its historical integrity.
